How to Add a New Item

1. Tap Scan in the app's menu (Scan, Items, Sell, More)
2. Take a photo or upload an image. With two or more photos, the scan page asks "One item, or scan each photo separately?"
3. Get the AI analysis with the price, the range and the recent sales behind it
4. The scan is saved to Items on its own. Tap List on a marketplace and pick where it goes. eBay, Bonanza and Discogs (records) publish from the app; for the others the app or our extension fills in the form and you post it

Photo Tips

• Use good lighting - natural light works best
• Include multiple angles when possible
• Capture any labels, signatures, or maker's marks
• Show any flaws or damage for accurate condition assessment
• Photos are automatically compressed if too large

Item Hints

Adding hints helps the AI provide more accurate analysis:

• Brand - If you know the manufacturer or brand
• Artist/Designer - For art, pottery, or designer items
• Item Name - Specific model or product name
• Dimensions - Size measurements
• Condition - Your assessment of the item's condition
• Notes - Any other relevant information

Re-Analyzing Items

You can re-analyze an item at any time by clicking "Re-analyze" on the item page. This is useful if you've added new photos or updated the hints. Re-analysis uses 1 scan. To re-check the price against today's recent sales without a new scan, tap Get price on the scan in Scan history (under More); that is free.

Recent Sales

Underpriced AI shows recent sales of the same item from several platforms:

• Recent sales - Items like yours that sold lately, with what the buyer paid and a link to each sale
• For sale now - Items like yours listed right now, with their asking prices

Image Actions

Remove background, Rotate left and Rotate right are buttons on the photo. Make main photo, Move left, Move right, Replace, Download and Delete are in the photo's "More actions" menu. There is no crop tool, so crop on your device first.

  Background removal for cleaner product photos. Can be undone.

• Rotate Left / Right

  Turn a photo 90 degrees to fix its orientation

• Replace Image

  Upload a new photo to replace the current one (in More menu)

• Delete

  Remove an image from the item (in More menu)

Reordering Images

On a computer, drag and drop thumbnails to reorder your images. On any device, open a photo's "More actions" menu and choose Make main photo, Move left or Move right. The first image is the main photo.

Zoom View

Click any image or tap the "Zoom" button to view it full-screen. On mobile, swipe left/right to navigate between images.

Recording Purchase Information

When creating or editing an item, you can record:

• Purchase Price - What you paid for the item
• Source Location - Where you found it (thrift store, estate sale, etc.)
• Shipping Cost (Inbound) - If the item was shipped to you

Marking Items as Sold

When you sell an item, record the sale details:

• Sale Price - What the buyer paid
• Platform - Where you sold it (eBay, Bonanza, etc.)
• Shipping Cost (Outbound) - What you paid to ship it

Fee Calculation

When you record a sale, the fee is estimated for you, and you can change it:

• eBay: follows the Country on your account. US sellers: 13.6% final value fee in most categories. UK and German private sellers pay no eBay selling fee on domestic sales, so none is added; UK business sellers: 12.9% in most categories plus a 0.35% regulatory fee and 30p or 40p per order, before VAT. Other countries, and business sellers outside the UK, use the US rate as an estimate. Items you listed through us get the real fees from the eBay order.
• Poshmark, Mercari, OfferUp, Etsy, Depop, Whatnot: estimates at US rates (for example Poshmark 20%, Mercari 10%)
• Facebook Marketplace, local and other sales: no fee is added when you mark the item sold; enter one if you paid it

Storage Locations

Create hierarchical storage locations to track where items are stored:

1. Go to Settings → Inventory Tools → Storage Locations
2. Click Add Location
3. Enter a name (e.g., "Garage - Shelf 1")
4. Optionally select a parent location for hierarchy

Custom Tags

Create tags to categorize items your way:

1. Go to Settings → Inventory Tools → Tags
2. Click Add Tag
3. Enter a name (e.g., "Needs Photos", "High Value")
4. Choose a color for visual organization

Assigning Tags & Locations

On any item page, use the Inventory card to assign tags and a storage location. You can also tap Select on Items to assign to multiple items at once.

Bulk Operations

On Items, tap Select, pick items, and use Actions to:

• Bulk Archive - Move sold or donated items to archive
• Bulk Delete - Remove items permanently
• Bulk Assign Tags - Add tags to multiple items
• Bulk Assign Location - Set storage location for multiple items

Editing Content

• Title - Optimized for search (80 characters max for eBay)
• Price - Set your asking price
• Description - Plain text description, works across all platforms
• Keywords - Click to copy individual keywords or copy all
• Revert - Discard changes and restore last saved version

Platform-Specific Options

Enabling 2FA

1. Go to Settings → Account & Security
2. Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
3. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.)
4. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app to verify
5. 2FA is now enabled for your account

Logging In with 2FA

When 2FA is enabled, you'll need to enter a code after your password:

1. Enter your email and password as usual
2. Open your authenticator app
3. Enter the 6-digit code shown for Underpriced AI
4. You're logged in!

Disabling 2FA

To disable 2FA, go to Settings → Account & Security and click Disable 2FA. You'll need to enter your password and a valid authenticator code to confirm.

Ways to Scan

• Photo - Take a photo with your phone camera for instant analysis
• Gallery Upload - Upload an existing image from your photo library
• Batch Scan - Upload up to 10 photos at once, each scanned as a separate item. Add a photo of each item, then tap "Each photo is a different item" when the scan page asks
• Barcodes - A book's ISBN or a CD or record's barcode in your photo is read automatically. If a book or record shows only a few sales, tap "Scan its barcode" on the result to scan the exact edition
• Browser Extension - Install the Chrome or Firefox extension to scan items directly from online auction listings or any webpage

• Plain warnings - A note next to the price when the category or the matching sales run wide

Scan vs Saved Items

CSV Export

Download all your scans or inventory items as a CSV file. Available from the Scan history page (under More) and the Items tab. Includes item names, brands, prices, descriptions, tags, and image URLs. Use it to import into cross-posting tools like Vendoo or Crosslist, or track inventory in a spreadsheet.

What It Does

Estate & yard sales (under More in the app, formerly Sale Finder) is the fastest way to check every sale listing site for your area at once. Enter your ZIP code and it builds the right search link for each site, so one tap opens that site already filtered to your city and ZIP.

• Estate sales - opens EstateSales.NET at your city and ZIP
• Garage and yard sales - GSALR.com and YardSaleSearch.com
• Auctions - AuctionZip, searched around your ZIP
• One ZIP, every site - type it once, each link is built for you
• Opens in a new tab - you browse and book on the site itself

It sends you to those sites rather than copying their listings, so what you see is always their live, complete schedule.

How It Works

1. Connect your eBay account in Settings
2. List items to eBay through Underpriced AI
3. When the item sells, we automatically sync the order details
4. Sale price, actual fees, and shipping charges are recorded
5. Your item is marked as Sold and profit is calculated

What Gets Synced

• Sale Price - Actual amount paid by the buyer
• eBay Fees - Real marketplace fees (not estimates)
• Shipping Charges - What the buyer paid for shipping
• Order Date - When the sale occurred

How to Use

1. Scan an item at a thrift store or estate sale
2. Scroll to the "Should I Buy It?" section
3. Enter what you'd pay and estimated shipping cost
4. See instant profit breakdown for eBay, Poshmark, and Mercari
5. Make a data-driven buy/pass decision on the spot

What You See

• Net Profit per Platform - After all fees and shipping
• ROI Percentage - Return on your investment
• Platform Fee Breakdown - The marketplaces that operate in your country, at your fees. For US sellers: eBay (13.6% plus $0.30 or $0.40 per order), Poshmark (20%), Mercari (10%), Facebook shipped (10%, $0.80 minimum) and Etsy. In the UK and EU: eBay, Vinted (no seller fee) and Etsy, with no eBay fee for UK and German private sellers.

How Priority Scoring Works

Each item receives a priority score based on four factors:

• Age (30%) - How long you've owned the item
• How fast it sells (25%) - How fast items in this category sell
• Profit Potential (30%) - Expected profit based on estimated value minus costs
• Value Density (15%) - Higher-value items get a small boost

How to Export

1. Open Analytics (under More)
2. Click the "Tax Report" button
3. The CSV for the current year downloads

What's Included

• Per-item rows - Item name, sale date, revenue, COGS, fees, shipping, net profit
• Summary totals - Total revenue, total COGS, total fees, total shipping, net profit
• Unsold inventory - Total cost of items not yet sold (for COGS tracking)

Navigating to Analytics

Tap More, then Analytics, to open it. The dashboard shows key metrics and allows you to drill down into detailed reports.

Available Reports

• Revenue & Profit - Track total revenue, costs, and net profit over time
• Category Performance - See which categories are most profitable
• Inventory Aging - Track how long items sit before selling
• Sourcing ROI - Analyze which sources give the best returns
• Tax Report Export - Download a Schedule C-ready CSV for tax season

Time Range Filtering

View analytics for the last 30 days, the last 90 days, the last 6 months, the last year, or all time.

Chrome Extension (desktop)

Our free Chrome extension adds two desktop superpowers:

• Scan from anywhere: right-click any item photo on any website (auction listings, estate sales, marketplaces) and choose "Scan with Underpriced AI."
• One-click cross-listing to Facebook Marketplace, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Vinted, Whatnot, OfferUp, Etsy, and more: click "Open Facebook" or "Copy & Open" on any item and the extension fills the marketplace's own create form: title, price, description, and photos (plus condition on Facebook). You review, pick the category, and click Post. Nothing is ever posted for you.

Desktop Chrome and Edge only, since phone browsers can't run extensions. On a phone, open the item and tap "Copy it step by step" (Poshmark, Mercari, Facebook, Depop, Vinted, OfferUp): we copy each field in the order the form asks and you post it yourself. Other marketplaces get tap-to-copy buttons.

PWA (Progressive Web App)

Add Underpriced AI to your home screen from any mobile browser for an app-like experience without downloading from an app store. Go to Settings for instructions or scan the QR code from a desktop.

Managing Your Subscription

Go to Settings → Subscription to:

• View your current plan and usage
• Upgrade, downgrade, or change your plan
• Pause for 1, 2 or 3 months (no charge while paused; it resumes on its own)
• Update your payment method and view invoices (Payment & invoices)
• Cancel subscription

How to Cancel

1. Go to Settings → Subscription
2. Click Cancel or change plan
3. Pick a reason and tap Continue
4. A pause or a smaller plan is offered first (if you're not ready to sell yet, the pause leads); tap No thanks, cancel anyway (or No thanks, cancel my plan) to finish
5. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period

Cancel vs Delete

Photography

• Use natural lighting when possible
• Include photos from multiple angles
• Capture maker's marks, labels, and signatures
• Show scale with a common object if size matters
• Document any flaws or damage

Better Identification

• Add hints if you know the brand or artist
• Include dimension information for furniture or art
• Mention any provenance or history you know
• Upload photos of any documentation or receipts

Pricing Strategy

• Check Competition and How fast it sells before pricing
• Use "Low" price for quick sales in saturated markets
• Use "High" price for rare items or patient selling
• Review the recent sales to understand the market

How accurate is the AI pricing?

Read the range, not just the number. Identical items sell across a spread, so every scan gives a range calibrated to hold about 8 in 10 real sales, plus the recent sales behind it with links so you can check. How often the range really held is measured weekly and published at underpricedai.com/accuracy. Accuracy depends on photo quality and how common the item is.

What counts as a "scan"?

Each time you scan an item or re-analyze a saved item, it counts as one scan toward your monthly limit. Several photos of the same item in one scan count once; "Each photo is a different item" uses one scan per photo. Scans you discard still count.

Can I edit the AI-generated content?

Yes! All titles, descriptions, and prices are fully editable. The AI provides a starting point that you can customize.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Your images are stored securely in AWS S3. Platform connections use OAuth and don't store your passwords. You can disconnect platforms and delete your data at any time.

What happens to my listings if I cancel?

Listings already published to eBay or Bonanza stay live; Underpriced AI doesn't delete them. If you cancel your subscription, your data is preserved until you explicitly delete your account.

Do you support international sellers?

Yes. Set your Country in Settings and prices come from your own eBay marketplace in your currency (US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands and Belgium, plus Mexico for pricing), and you can publish to those ten eBay sites. Identification and listing work everywhere.
