Getting Started
What is Underpriced AI?
Underpriced AI is an AI-powered tool that helps resellers identify items, get instant valuations based on real market data, and create optimized listings for eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, and other marketplaces. Snap a photo and get pricing, comparable sales, and a ready-to-publish listing in seconds.
How do I scan an item?
Take a photo with your phone camera or upload an existing image. Our AI identifies the item, searches real-time sold data across eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, and other platforms, and returns a detailed valuation with price range, comparable sales, and a listing-ready title and description.
Do I need to connect or set up my camera?
No - there's nothing to pair or connect. On the scan screen, tap "Take Photo" and it uses your phone or computer's built-in camera right in the app. The first time, your browser or phone will ask permission to use the camera - tap Allow. If the camera doesn't open or you see a black screen, that's almost always a blocked permission: re-enable camera access for our site in your browser or phone settings, or just tap "Upload" instead to pick a photo you already took. The iOS and Android apps give the smoothest camera experience.
Can I add more than one photo of an item?
Yes — and you should when it helps. A single scan accepts up to 3 photos of the SAME item (for example the front, the back, a label, or a maker's mark). It still counts as just one scan, and the extra angles make identification and pricing noticeably more accurate. So to capture the front and back of something, add both photos to one scan rather than scanning twice.
Do I need to download an app?
Underpriced AI works in your browser on any device - no download required. We also offer an iOS app on the App Store, an Android app on Google Play, and Chrome and Firefox browser extensions for scanning items while browsing online listings.
Is there a free scan or free trial?
You get up to 8 free scans - no credit card required. Your first scan is free right when you sign up; recording what you paid for your first item unlocks 2 more, and publishing your first listing unlocks 5 more. All are the full experience: real AI identification, comparable sold listings, a confidence score, and a suggested price. After that, pick a plan (starting at $5/month for 20 scans) or buy a pay-as-you-go credit pack with no subscription. Both unlock every feature.
Can I scan a barcode instead of taking a photo?
Yes. On the scan screen, choose the barcode option to scan a book's ISBN or a CD/vinyl UPC with your camera. We look the title up automatically (Google Books for books, Discogs for music) and then price it from real sold listings, exactly like a photo scan. For everything else - clothing, collectibles, electronics, housewares - a clear photo works best.
Can I scan multiple items at once?
Yes - use Batch Scan to do up to 10 different items at once (one photo each). It's built for clearing a pile fast: add up to 10 photos and we identify and price each item separately. Each item counts as its own scan toward your limit. (This is different from adding several photos of the SAME item to one scan, which still counts as a single scan - see above.)
How do I get started?
Sign up and your first scan is free - no credit card. Recording what you paid for your first item unlocks 2 more, and publishing your first listing unlocks 5 more. After that, pick a plan and keep scanning immediately, or buy a scan credit pack with no subscription required. All plans include every feature.
Pricing & Accuracy
How accurate is the AI pricing?
Our pricing is based on real sold prices — what items actually sold for — not AI guesses. And we pull them from the source that knows each item best: eBay, Poshmark and Mercari for everyday resale, plus category specialists like StockX for sneakers, live watch-market data for watches, and price guides for books, games, trading cards and vinyl. A first edition gets priced like a first edition; a Rolex like a Rolex. Every scan includes comparable sold listings with clickable links so you can verify prices yourself, plus a confidence indicator so you know which estimates are solid versus thin on data. Accuracy depends on image quality and how common the item is. For high-value or rare items, we recommend cross-referencing the comparable sales we provide.
Where does the pricing data come from?
Pricing data comes from real sold prices — what items actually sold for, not what they're currently listed at — drawn from the right source for each item. That means eBay, Poshmark and Mercari sold listings for general resale, plus category authorities: StockX and GOAT for sneakers, live watch-market data for watches, PriceCharting for games, Sports Card Pro for trading cards, Discogs for vinyl, first-edition data for books, and our own growing database of real resale sales. We also check active listings to gauge current market supply and saturation. Because it isn't one fragile source, your pricing keeps working even when any single site goes dark.
How is this different from checking eBay sold listings manually?
Manual research typically takes 5-10 minutes per item and only covers one platform. Underpriced AI searches sold data across multiple platforms at once — eBay, Poshmark and Mercari plus category specialists like StockX, watch-market data, and price guides for books, games, cards and vinyl — so a sneaker gets priced against sneaker sales and a first edition against first-edition sales, not lumped into one generic eBay search. It factors in item condition and specifics from your photo, delivers results in seconds, and generates a listing title, description, and suggested price — saving you significant time per item.
Can the AI identify any item?
The AI works best with branded items, electronics, collectibles, vintage goods, clothing, and common household items. Very obscure, handmade, or one-of-a-kind items may get a more general identification. Clear, well-lit photos - and adding multiple angles to one scan - dramatically improve accuracy.
What does the confidence score on my results mean?
Every scan shows a confidence score so you know how much to trust the estimate. Green (80%+) means we found solid, consistent sold data for a clearly identified item. Amber (60-79%) means the data is thinner or the item was harder to pin down. Red (under 60%) means treat it as a rough ballpark and double-check against the comparable sales we list. It's there so a confident-looking number never misleads you.
Why do you show 'sold' and 'asking' prices separately?
Because they're very different numbers. 'Recently sold' is what buyers actually paid - that's what your estimate is built on. 'Currently listed' is what other sellers are asking, which is often higher than items really sell for. We show both so you can see the gap, and when listings are asking noticeably more than things sell for, we flag it right on the result. Your suggested price follows real sales, not wishful asking prices.
Can I re-check an item's price later?
Yes, and it's free. On your Scans list, use 'Re-price' to re-run the latest market data on a past scan - handy when you're about to list something you scanned a while ago. It doesn't use a scan credit. You can re-price each item once every few hours.
Can I correct what the AI identified?
Yes. Open the item from the Items page and edit the title, brand, condition, and description fields directly - just type into the form fields. Those details flow into the listing we generate, so your title and description come out more accurate. To re-run the price using your corrections, tap 'Re-analyze' (the button says 'Use 1 Scan & Re-analyze' - it costs 1 scan credit because we re-run the AI with your edits). Notes typed into the description on their own don't automatically re-price the item; Re-analyze is what flips the valuation to reflect your edits.
Does the AI learn from my corrections?
Your inputs shape your own results - details you add, like exact dimensions or condition, are used to identify and price that item more precisely, and your saved corrections improve the listings we generate for you. What we don't do is quietly retrain a global model on your data in the background. If you spot an identification that's consistently off, tell us - that feedback is how we improve the system deliberately.
Plans & Billing
What plans are available?
We offer six paid plans: Starter ($5/month, 20 scans), Pro ($12/month, 50 scans), Pro Plus ($24/month, 120 scans with inventory tools), Business ($59/month, 325 scans with analytics dashboard), Power ($99/month, 750 scans), and Scale ($199/month, 1,800 scans included then 12 cents per scan after, so you never hit a wall) for full-time sellers. Annual billing saves 20%, and credit packs (1 to 250 scans) cover pay-as-you-go. Every scan runs on Claude Opus 4.8, one of Anthropic's most capable vision models. All plans include AI identification, real-time valuations, listing generation, and eBay integration.
What counts as a scan?
Each time you analyze an item - whether by taking a new photo, uploading an image, or re-analyzing a saved item - it counts as one scan toward your monthly limit. Adding multiple photos of the same item to a single scan still counts as just one scan. Viewing previously saved scan results does not use a scan.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes. Go to Settings — you'll see an Upgrade button (with prorated credit for the unused portion of your current cycle) if you're on Pro or Pro Plus, and Pause / Downgrade / Cancel options below that. If you cancel, you keep access through the end of your current billing period. Your saved scans and data are preserved either way.
What's your refund policy?
You get up to 8 free scans as you try the app (scanning, saving, and listing your first item), so you can try Underpriced AI before paying. Because of that, monthly plans and scan credit packs are non-refundable - but you can cancel anytime and keep access through the end of the period you've paid for. On annual plans, if you cancel partway through we'll refund the unused full months. If something's genuinely not working for you, reach out - we'll make it right.
What happens when I run out of scans?
When you reach your monthly scan limit, you can purchase additional scan credit packs or upgrade to a higher plan. Credit packs never expire and carry over month to month.
How much do scan credit packs cost?
Credit packs are one-time purchases with no subscription required: 5 scans for $4, 15 scans for $9, 30 scans for $15, 50 scans for $22, 100 scans for $40, and 250 scans for $90. Bigger packs cost less per scan (from 80 cents down to about 36 cents each), and credits never expire - they carry over month to month. If you scan regularly, a subscription is the better per-scan deal; packs are built for occasional use or topping up when you hit your plan's limit.
Do you have a referral program?
Yes. Grab your referral link from Settings and share it. Your friend gets 25 bonus scans the moment they sign up, and you get 25 bonus scans when they subscribe or buy a credit pack. There's no limit on how many friends you can refer.
Why am I asked to verify my phone number by text at checkout?
That prompt comes from Stripe Link, our payment processor, not from Underpriced AI. Stripe offers to save your card by verifying your phone via text so future checkouts are faster. It is completely optional and skippable - just enter your card details directly to finish. We never require phone verification, and we do not see or store your phone number from that step.
Selling & Listings
Which marketplaces can I list on?
You can publish listings directly to eBay (US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium) and Bonanza from inside the app. For the other marketplaces, install our free Chrome extension (desktop Chrome or Edge) and it fills in the listing form for you — you just review the details and hit Post. It works with Facebook Marketplace, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Whatnot, Vinted, OfferUp, Etsy, District, Craigslist, 1stDibs, and Ruby Lane. Prefer not to install anything? Every item page also has a paste kit: tap-to-copy buttons for the title, price, condition, and description (in the order the platform's form asks for them), a Share Photos button that sends all photos to your phone's share sheet, and a Download Images button that bundles them into one zip.
How do I cross-post the same listing to multiple marketplaces?
Two ways, depending on the marketplace. eBay (10 countries) and Bonanza publish directly from the app with one click, no extension needed. For everyone else, install our free Chrome extension (desktop Chrome or Edge): open any saved item and click to cross-list, and the extension opens that marketplace's create-listing form with your title, price, description, and photos already filled in — you review, pick the category, and hit Post. It works on Facebook Marketplace, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Whatnot, Vinted, OfferUp, Etsy, District, Craigslist, 1stDibs, and Ruby Lane. It runs entirely in your browser, so we never see your marketplace logins. Because it's a browser extension, cross-posting works on a desktop computer (Chrome or Edge), not the phone app. Prefer not to install anything? Every item page also has tap-to-copy buttons and a Download Images button, so you can paste into any platform's own app by hand.
Can I edit the AI-generated listing?
Absolutely. The AI generates a title, description, and suggested price as a starting point. You can edit every field before publishing. Many sellers use the AI output as-is, while others customize it to match their selling style.
Can I list on eBay as an auction instead of fixed price?
Yes. At the review step of the eBay listing flow you'll see a Fixed price / Auction toggle. Auction opens up a start price, duration (1/3/5/7/10 days, default 7), and optional reserve and Buy It Now. The start price defaults to 50% of the estimated value since low starts historically attract more Watchers and bids, but you can change it to anything you want.
Can I end an eBay listing from Underpriced AI?
Yes. Open the item, look for the "End on eBay" button under "Listed on eBay." One click ends the listing on eBay directly — no need to go to Seller Hub. Ended listings show a Relist card: one tap brings the listing back live, optionally at a new price. (A relist is a fresh eBay listing, so watchers don't carry over — that's how eBay works.)
Can I change the price of a listing that's already live on eBay?
Yes. Open the item and you'll see your live listing card with a price field and an Update Price button — the new price pushes straight to eBay, no Seller Hub needed. There are also one-tap markdown chips (−5%, −10%, −15%) for quick price drops. If you've edited the title or description in the app, a "Push title & description to eBay" button updates those on the live listing too. One eBay rule to know: auctions that already have bids can't change price — eBay refuses that on every tool, not just ours.
Can eBay Best Offers be accepted automatically?
Yes. On your live listing's card, open Best Offer settings to enable offers with two optional thresholds: offers at or above your auto-accept price sell instantly, and offers below your minimum decline automatically — no more waking up to lowball offers waiting for a response. Fixed-price listings only (eBay doesn't do Best Offer on auctions).
Does the app fill in eBay's required item specifics for me?
Yes. When you pick a category and condition, the intake form loads any item specifics or structured condition details eBay requires for that specific category and pre-fills them from your scan when possible (Brand, Model, Coin Condition, Storage Capacity, and so on). You just fill in whatever's still blank and publish. No more "publish, fail, retype" round trips.
Can I schedule a listing to go live later?
Yes. On the publish screen you'll see a "Go live at" time picker with quick presets for Now, +6h, and Tomorrow, plus a custom picker if you want a specific date and time. eBay allows scheduling up to 21 days out. Or use the "Publish Live on eBay" button to go live immediately. The time is chosen per listing — there isn't a global default listing time setting that applies to every new listing automatically.
Does the listing include keywords for SEO?
Yes. Listing titles and descriptions are optimized with relevant keywords that buyers actually search for. This includes brand names, model numbers, size, color, condition descriptors, and category-specific terms to maximize visibility in marketplace search results.
Can I share a scan result with someone?
Yes. On any scan result, tap 'Share' to get a public link you can send to a buyer, a friend, or post anywhere. The recipient sees the item, the price range, and the recent sold comparables without needing an account. You can share before or after you list.
What happens to my listings if I cancel?
Listings already published to eBay or Bonanza stay live on those platforms - Underpriced AI never removes them. Your saved scan data is also preserved if you decide to resubscribe later.
Inventory & Tracking
Can I track my purchase price and profit?
Yes. When you save a scan, you can record the purchase price. The app calculates estimated profit based on the suggested selling price minus your cost and estimated platform fees (eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, etc.). When items sell on eBay, the actual sale price and fees are auto-synced - no manual entry needed.
What is the Sourcing Calculator?
The 'Should I Buy It?' calculator appears on every scan result. Enter what you'd pay for an item and estimated shipping cost, and it instantly shows your net profit and ROI on each platform (eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Facebook). It's designed for in-the-field sourcing decisions - scan an item at a thrift store and know if it's profitable before you buy.
Does Underpriced AI sync with eBay automatically?
Yes. When an item you listed through Underpriced AI sells on eBay, we automatically pull the sale price, marketplace fees, and shipping charges via eBay's Fulfillment API. Your profit calculations update automatically - no manual data entry required.
What is the Death Pile Prioritizer?
On your dashboard, the Death Pile card ranks every item you've scanned but not yet listed, so you know what to list first. It scores each item on how long you've owned it, the category's sell-through speed, the profit potential, and the item's value, then tags each one URGENT, HIGH, MEDIUM, or LOW. The card shows an 'X unlisted' count and highlights how many are urgent - tap any item to jump straight to listing it.
Will I be notified if an item's value changes?
Yes. If a saved item's market value moves 15% or more, we'll send you a price alert so you can re-list or adjust. You get at most one alert email per week (we batch changes so it's never spammy), and you can also enable browser push notifications. Both are controlled under Settings - Value Alerts, where you can turn the email off anytime.
Can I export a tax report?
Yes. On the Analytics page, click 'Tax Report' to download a Schedule C-ready CSV for the current year. It includes per-item revenue, cost of goods sold (COGS), shipping costs, platform fees, other expenses, and net profit - plus summary totals. This makes tax season significantly easier for resellers.
What inventory features are included?
Pro Plus and Business plans include storage locations (organized hierarchically), custom tags for categorization, bulk operations (archive, delete, assign), and advanced filtering. This makes it easy to manage large inventories across multiple sourcing trips.
How do I delete an item from my inventory?
Open the item you want removed from the Items page - you'll find a delete option in that item's actions. On Pro Plus and Business plans, there's also a bulk-delete option under bulk operations if you want to clear several items at once. Deleting is permanent: once removed, the item's photos and valuation history are gone for good.
Is there an analytics dashboard?
Business plan subscribers get a full analytics dashboard with revenue and profit reports, category performance analysis, inventory aging reports, sourcing ROI tracking, and tax report exports. This helps you understand which categories and sourcing methods are most profitable.
Platforms & Devices
Does Underpriced AI work on mobile?
Yes. The web app is fully responsive and works on any smartphone or tablet. We have a dedicated iOS app on the App Store and an Android app on Google Play, both with native camera integration for the fastest scanning experience.
Is there a Chrome extension?
Yes, and it does two things. First, scan from anywhere: right-click any product image while browsing online listings, thrift store websites, or auction sites for an instant valuation. Second, one-click cross-listing: on any of your items, one click opens the create-listing form on Facebook Marketplace, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Whatnot, Vinted, OfferUp, Etsy, District, Craigslist, 1stDibs, and Ruby Lane, and fills the title, price, description, and photos — you review, pick the category, and click Post. It runs entirely in your browser and we never see your marketplace logins.
Can I cross-list to Facebook Marketplace, Poshmark, Mercari, and other marketplaces?
Yes. On desktop Chrome, install our free extension and every item gets one-click cross-listing to Facebook Marketplace, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Whatnot, Vinted, OfferUp, Etsy, District, Craigslist, 1stDibs, and Ruby Lane: we open the marketplace's own create form and fill the title, price, description, and photos — you review and click Post, so nothing is ever posted without you. On mobile, each item page has a paste kit that copies every field in the order the form asks, plus one-tap photo sharing. eBay and Bonanza go further with full direct publishing from inside the app.
Do you support international sellers?
Yes. eBay integration supports 10 countries — US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium — and pricing data is localized to your marketplace and currency. Italian users get sold-comp data from ebay.it in EUR, UK users from ebay.co.uk in GBP, and so on. The identification and listing features work globally regardless of country.
Why does signing up with Google send me back to the create-account page?
This almost always means the browser is blocking the cookies or scripts Google sign-in needs to hand you back to us. The usual cause is opening the site inside another app's built-in browser (a link tapped in Gmail, Facebook, or a text message) or a strict privacy or ad-blocking setting. Two fixes: first, open Chrome or Safari directly, type underpricedai.com in the address bar, and tap Continue with Google from there rather than following a link inside another app. Second, if it still loops, create the account with your email and a new password instead (not your Google password) — you'll get a confirmation email and you're in, and you can connect Google to the account later in Settings.
Security & Privacy
Is my data secure?
Yes. Images are stored securely in encrypted AWS S3 storage. Platform connections use OAuth - we never see or store your marketplace passwords. We support two-factor authentication (2FA) for additional account security.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete individual scans, disconnect marketplace accounts, or delete your entire account and all associated data from your settings page at any time.
Do you sell my data?
No. We never sell your personal information or scan data to third parties. Your scans and inventory data are yours. See our privacy policy for full details.

What are the best items to resell for profit?
Popular high-margin categories include vintage clothing (Levi's, Pendleton, Starter jackets), collectibles (Hot Wheels, Pyrex, depression glass), electronics, designer handbags, and athletic wear (Lululemon, Nike Dunks). Check out our blog for detailed guides on each category.
Where should I source items to resell?
Thrift stores, estate sales, garage sales, flea markets, and online auctions are the most popular sourcing spots. Our Sale Finder feature (Pro Plus and above) helps you find nearby estate sales and auctions based on your ZIP code.
Which marketplace should I sell on?
It depends on what you're selling. eBay is best for electronics, collectibles, and niche items. Poshmark excels for clothing and fashion. Mercari works well for general goods. Facebook Marketplace is ideal for large or local-pickup items. Many successful resellers cross-list on multiple platforms to maximize exposure.
