Ways to scan: camera, upload, barcode
Five ways to start a scan: phone camera, gallery upload, barcode, batch scan of up to 10 items, and desktop URL or extension.
There is more than one way to get an item into Underpriced AI. Pick the one that matches where you are and what you are holding.
Camera or gallery upload
On the scan screen, tap "Take Photo" to use your phone or computer camera, or tap Upload to pick an image already in your photo library. Both run the same analysis. You can add up to 3 photos of the same item to one scan, and it still counts as a single scan.
Barcode for books, CDs, and vinyl
On the scan screen, choose the barcode option and point your camera at a book's ISBN or a CD or vinyl UPC. We look the title up automatically, using Google Books for books and Discogs for music, then price it from real sold listings exactly like a photo scan. For clothing, collectibles, electronics, and housewares, a clear photo works better.
Batch scan for a pile of items
- Toggle "Batch" mode on the scan page.
- Add up to 10 photos, one photo per item.
- Each photo is identified and priced as its own separate item.
Batch is built for clearing a pile fast. Each item counts as its own scan toward your limit. This is different from adding several photos of the same item to one scan.
Desktop options
Install the Chrome or Firefox extension and you can right-click any item photo on a website, an auction listing, or a marketplace page and choose "Scan with Underpriced AI". Extensions run on desktop Chrome and Edge, not phone browsers.
You can also paste an image URL or a listing URL on desktop and the app fetches the image and scans it.
Which one should you use
Use the camera when you are standing in a thrift store or estate sale. Use barcode for media. Use batch when you get home with a haul. Use the extension or a URL when you are shopping online listings from a computer.

- Can I scan a barcode instead of taking a photo?
