  • Sports (category): down 8% on 151 searches that sold in both periods, 91 of them moving that way.
  • Nintendo (item type): down 6% on 22 searches that sold in both periods, 14 of them moving that way.

Every other row with enough searches in both periods is steady (it moved less than 5%) or mixed (its searches went both ways). A steady price is useful too: it means today's sold listings are a fair guide to what yours will fetch.

How we count

Source. Completed eBay US sales we collect every day while resellers price items with us: 1,311,782 eBay US sold listings in all, 894,636 of them from July 1, 2026 to September 28, 2026 after cleaning. Each eBay listing counts once. Never user photos, user reported sales or anything private.

What a count means. How many sales we recorded, which follows what resellers look up. It is not eBay's total, and we never compare counts over time, because our collection grew over the period.

Categories. Each sale takes the category of the scans whose search found it; 86% of the listings could be placed. A category needs 1,000 sales and an item type 150 to be listed.

Best Offer sales. eBay shows a sale made by accepted offer at its asking price. Since September 28, 2026 we count those at our estimate of the accepted offer, a little under the asking price; earlier ones at the asking price.

Cleaned. Listings for parts, not working, box only, replicas and similar are left out, and so are prices far outside the rest for the same search, using the same outlier rule our price checks use.

Rising and falling. For each search with at least 5 sales in both periods, the change in its median price; the group's change is the median of those, shown when 20 or more searches back it. It is labelled rising or falling at 5% or more when 60% of the searches that moved went the same way, and mixed when it moved that much but its searches split.

Sell-through (the share of listings that sell) is left out on purpose: our data records sales, not the listings that never sold. For a single item, use the free sold listings search.

What sells best on eBay right now?

In the 894,636 eBay sold listings we recorded from July 1, 2026 to September 28, 2026, clothing, pottery and glass, collectibles and toys had the most sales, with typical sold prices from $18 to $25. The table is recomputed every night.

Are these eBay's total sales?

No. eBay does not publish its sales by category. These are the sold listings we collected while resellers priced items with us, so the counts show what sold among the things resellers bring us, not the whole of eBay.

What does rising or falling mean here?

It compares prices on the same searches: for each search with at least five sales in the last 90 days and at least five in the 90 days before, we compare the middle sold price, then take the middle of those changes. It is never a count of sales.

Why is the typical price so low in some categories?

The typical price is the median, the middle sale, and most eBay sales are small. A category with a $20 median can still have plenty of $200 sales. The middle half column shows the range most sales fell in.
