Selling and listing
Fees and net profit
How platform fees are applied on each item, which rates we use, and where to see your take-home before and after a sale.
Every profit number in Underpriced AI is after fees. Here is where those fees come from and how to adjust them.
The rates we apply
When you record a sale and pick a platform, the fee is calculated for you:
- eBay: 13.25 percent final value fee
- Poshmark: 20 percent commission
- Mercari: 10 percent selling fee
- Facebook Marketplace: 5 percent selling fee
- Other platforms: enter the fee manually
These are estimates used for planning. For items you listed to eBay through Underpriced AI, eBay auto-sync replaces the estimate with the real marketplace fees from the actual order, along with the sale price and shipping charges.
See take-home before you buy
Every scan result includes the "Should I Buy It?" calculator:
- Scroll to the "Should I Buy It?" section on a scan result.
- Enter what you would pay for the item.
- Enter your estimated shipping cost.
- Read the net profit and ROI for eBay, Poshmark and Mercari side by side.
That is a buy or pass decision you can make standing in the aisle. Each scan also shows estimated take-home after fees on each platform, which is useful when two marketplaces price an item similarly but charge very differently.
See net profit after the sale
On each item page you get a breakdown of costs, fees and net profit once you have recorded the purchase price and the sale. ROI is calculated as (Profit / Total Cost) x 100.
Things to remember
Fees are only part of the gap between price and profit. Outbound shipping, inbound shipping if the item was mailed to you, and your purchase price all come off the top, so record them.
A 20 percent commission changes which platform is worth the effort. Check the fee breakdown next to the sold comps before you choose where to list, especially on lower priced items where a flat shipping cost eats most of the margin.
On the Business plan, the Analytics dashboard rolls all of this up into revenue, profit and category performance reports.
Frequently asked questions
- What eBay fee does Underpriced AI use?
- A 13.25 percent final value fee is applied automatically when you mark an item sold on eBay. If you listed the item to eBay through Underpriced AI, auto-sync replaces that estimate with the real fees from the actual order, so your profit reflects what eBay actually charged.
- Can I enter my own fees for a platform that is not listed?
- Yes. eBay, Poshmark, Mercari and Facebook Marketplace fees are calculated automatically. For any other platform, choose it when recording the sale and enter the fee amount manually so your net profit and ROI stay accurate.
- How do I know if an item is worth buying before I pay for it?
- Use the "Should I Buy It?" calculator on any scan result. Enter your potential buy price and estimated shipping, and it shows net profit and ROI for eBay, Poshmark and Mercari after fees, so you can decide on the spot.
