Getting started
Scans vs saved items
A scan answers buy or pass. A saved item lives in your inventory with photos, costs, profit tracking, and listings.
Both start the same way, with a photo and an analysis. The difference is what happens after the result loads.
A scan on its own
Use a scan when you are standing in an aisle deciding whether to buy. You get the full analysis: identification, price range, sold comparables, live listings, market saturation, fee estimates, and the "Should I Buy It?" calculator. There is no commitment, and you can delete it when you are done.
A saved item
Saving turns that result into an inventory record. On a saved item you can:
- Add more photos, reorder them, rotate them, or remove the background
- Record the purchase price, source location, and inbound shipping
- Publish directly to eBay or Bonanza, or copy the content for other marketplaces
- Re-analyze with hints after you learn more about the item
- Assign tags and storage locations on Pro Plus and Business
- Mark it sold and see fees, net profit, and ROI
How items get saved
Most of the time you do not have to do anything. When you scan on a paid scan, the item is saved to your inventory automatically. You can also click "Save & List" on the result to save it and jump straight into listing.
If a specific scan is not in your Items list, for example a free preview scan or one you discarded:
- Open Scan History.
- Find the scan you want.
- Tap Save to inventory.
What counts against your limit
Each analysis counts as one scan, whether or not you save it. Re-analyzing a saved item counts as another scan. Viewing a saved result again costs nothing. Adding up to 3 photos of the same item to one scan still counts as a single scan.
Which should you use
Scan freely while sourcing and only worry about inventory for the things you actually buy. Once an item is in a bin at home, keep it as a saved item so its cost, photos, listing, and eventual profit all live in one place.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I have to move a scan into my inventory?
- Usually not. Items scanned on a paid scan are saved to your inventory automatically, so they appear in your Items list. If one is missing, such as a free preview scan or a scan you discarded, open Scan History, find it, and tap Save to inventory.
- Does an unsaved scan still use a credit?
- Yes. Every analysis counts as one scan toward your monthly limit, including scans you never save and re-analyses of saved items. Viewing results you already have costs nothing, and adding up to 3 photos of the same item to a single scan still counts as one scan.
- What can I do with a saved item that I cannot do with a scan?
- Saved items let you add more photos, record purchase price and shipping costs, publish to eBay or Bonanza, copy content for other marketplaces, re-analyze with hints, assign tags and storage locations on Pro Plus and Business, and mark the item sold to track fees, profit, and ROI.
