Troubleshooting

Scan failed or stuck

What to try when the camera will not open, a photo will not upload, or a scan does not finish.

Most failed scans come down to one of three things: camera permission, the photo itself, or a connection that dropped mid-analysis. Work through these in order.

If the camera will not open

There is nothing to pair or connect. On the scan screen, tap Take Photo and it uses your phone or computer camera right in the app. The first time, your browser or phone asks permission to use the camera. Tap Allow.

A black screen or a camera that never opens is almost always a blocked permission:

  1. Re-enable camera access for our site in your browser or phone settings.
  2. Reload the scan page and try Take Photo again.
  3. If you are in a hurry, tap Upload instead and pick a photo you already took.

The iOS and Android apps give the smoothest camera experience.

If the scan does not finish

  1. Check your connection, then reload the page and open Scan History to see whether the result landed there.
  2. Try again with a single clear photo instead of several. A scan accepts up to 3 photos of the same item, and Batch mode accepts up to 10 photos as separate items.
  3. Large photos are compressed automatically, so file size is rarely the problem. A blurry or very dark photo is more often the cause of a weak or failed result.
  4. If the item came back with a vague identification rather than an error, add hints such as brand, item name or dimensions and use Re-analyze.

If a scan seems to have been used

Check your balance in Settings under the Subscription section. It shows your plan allotment plus any credit-pack scans. If something looks wrong after a failed scan, contact support at underpricedai.com/contact with the email you signed up with and roughly when it happened.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my camera showing a black screen when I try to scan?
That is nearly always a blocked camera permission. Re-enable camera access for our site in your browser or phone settings, then reload the scan page. If you cannot fix it right away, tap Upload and choose a photo from your library instead. The iOS and Android apps handle the camera most smoothly.
Does a failed scan use one of my credits?
Each analysis counts as one scan, including re-analyzing a saved item, and scans you do not save still count. Viewing saved results does not. Check your remaining balance in Settings under Subscription, and contact support at underpricedai.com/contact if a charge looks wrong.
Can I add several photos if one scan is not identifying the item?
Yes. One scan accepts up to 3 photos of the same item, for example the front, the back and the maker's mark or brand tag. That still counts as a single scan and usually improves identification and pricing. Batch mode is different: up to 10 photos scanned as 10 separate items.

Try it on web or mobile

Your first scan is free, no card. Plans start at $5 a month and packs at $4 for 5 scans.
