How Whatnot fees work
Commission is charged on the item's sale price only, not shipping or tax. Payment processing, 2.9% + $0.30, is charged on everything the buyer pays: item, shipping and tax. The buyer's shipping pays for your Whatnot label, so it is neither income nor a cost here.
The new sales tiers
Your total sales across every category in a four week period set your tier for the next period. Standard is up to $14,999; Tier 6 starts at $500,000. Each category then has its own rate in that tier, down to 4.5% for fashion and 3.5% for coins. Premier Shop sellers keep a 10% commission discount on top until October 31, 2026; this calculator does not apply it.

What percentage does Whatnot take?
At the standard tier, 8% of the item price in most categories and 4% on coins, plus 2.9% + $0.30 processing on the whole order. On a $50 item with $8 shipping that is $5.98 in total.
Does Whatnot charge commission on shipping?
No. Commission is on the item price only. Payment processing does include the shipping and tax the buyer pays.
How do Whatnot's lower commission tiers work?
Sell more in one four week period and the next period's commission is lower. Standard covers $0 to $14,999 in sales; Tier 1 starts at $15,000. Processing does not change with the tier.
